Nothing is too small or too stupid: Mind your language, end self-loathing

One big thing that stops people from talking or reaching out is the belief that their struggles are “too small”, “too stupid” or “so irrational”. You know, first-world problems as compared to world hunger, dying babies and self-immolating farmersYes, these issues are important. And so are you.

There’s no metric on what you’re struggling with. It’s real for you. We’re not robots. The world doesn’t run on rationality. We’ve always known that traumatic events cause flashbacks, nightmares, sleeping problems, difficult concentration, and feelings of isolation. These experiences are termed as ‘post-traumatic stress disorder’ (PTSD). But what we also know now is that other stressful life events can cause as many trauma symptoms. That’s why you shouldn’t dismiss your pain as ‘too small’ or ‘too stupid’. It matters. You matter. The same metric stops people from acknowledging their success. “Oh I did something for myself, it’s really silly. .”, they preface it. It’s not silly or small. It’s the fact that you’re doing something for yourself. Can we take that further in your journey in changing your life? It starts when you end self-loathing.

Commit to the language of kindness. There is nothing too small, too irrational or too silly.
