How to deal with anxiety is really about Knowing Yourself. How to do that? Notice the things you say to yourself about why you worry. It can be because you believe that worrying is helpful. Or because you have certain ideas about yourself. But really, these limiting beliefs make you worry more. Here’s 3 common beliefs we have about ourselves, that actually cause anxiety. Read on to understand what these really mean, and how to overcome them.
Limiting belief #1: “I need to worry because I’m a responsible person”
is really about thinking that you have to do everything.
Where does this come from? Was there a time in your life where you had to be in-charge or something bad happened? Were there burdens too big to shoulder? Are the circumstances different today? If so, which responsibilities can you let go of?
Limiting belief #2: “I need to worry so I won’t overlook anything”
is really about being perfect.
But really, who has the perfect pitch with every single piece of research. Or the best aesthetic for their dress/house/car, with no absolutely flaws? What if perfectionism doesn’t create perfection, but feeds the gremlin we call procrastination? Or, what is Good Enough for you? Or, do you think that the same high standards only apply to you, and nobody else?
Limiting belief #3:“When shit happens, I won’t be able to deal”
is really about believing you do not have enough resources and power.
Did you know that many people who worry actually have great problem-solving skills, but they just don’t have faith in their skills. And they’re not aware that their biggest obstacle is this lack of faith. I have a question for you. When was the last time something happened, and you dealt with it. You’ll have answers. Loads of them. Dig deep. Trust yourself.
